Across the road and the worksite

The right context changes the decision.

Construction fleets move between depots, public roads and sites with different access arrangements. Managers need to distinguish equipment that is working, waiting, travelling or unavailable. A useful fleet view connects those conditions with maintenance priorities and the site team responsible for action.

CONNECT WHAT MATTERS

Fleet capabilities with a clear operational purpose.

Build a solution around the data you can trust and the actions your teams need to take.

01

Site and asset visibility

Use available position data and site boundaries to understand asset location and movements between projects.

02

Vehicle and plant health

Bring supported engine-hour, mileage and fault information into service planning. Confirm signal availability for each equipment class.

03

Manoeuvring evidence

Review compatible camera footage around reversing, access and unloading events with site conditions in context.

04

Defect-to-repair ownership

Connect reported defects with assessment, repair planning and the operational decision on availability.

THE OPERATIONAL WORKFLOW

Connect the work from preparation to follow-up.

A practical sequence for your team, with a named owner at each handover.

  1. 01

    Allocate to site

Identify asset, project and responsible team.

  2. 02

    Mobilise

Review road movement and arrival context.

  3. 03

    Work & inspect

Capture activity, defects and available evidence.

  4. 04

    Service & redeploy

Resolve exceptions before the next allocation.

REVIEW & IMPROVE

Feed recorded outcomes and unresolved actions into the next operating period.

MEASURE WITH CONFIDENCE

Define success before you start.

Use a representative baseline and comparable operating periods. These are suggested measures, not claims of achieved customer results.

MEASURE 01

Available equipment

Assets released for work divided by the assets required for that work period.

MEASURE 02

Defect assessment time

Time from a defect report to a recorded assessment by the responsible team.

MEASURE 03

Engine-hour coverage

Equipment with reliable engine-hour data as a proportion of the reporting cohort.

A consistent measurement approachDefine the cohortCheck data coverageCompare equivalent workReview the action taken
FROM ASSESSMENT TO OPERATION

Start with a deployment that fits.

Agree equipment, data ownership and acceptance criteria before scaling. A representative pilot should prove the complete workflow, including exceptions and handover.

Use the fleet rollout workbook
  1. 01

Separate road-vehicle and non-road equipment requirements in the inventory.

  2. 02

Validate power supply, installation location and exposure to vibration, dust and water.

  3. 03

Agree how hired assets and temporary site assignments are recorded.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Clear answers for your industry.

Can Fleetly cover hired plant?

Where permission, compatible hardware and data access are available, hired equipment can be included in an agreed asset and responsibility model.

Is GPS accurate enough to identify a safe route around workers?

Position data is not a personnel-protection system. Use the site’s approved traffic plan and safety controls.

Can we plan servicing by engine hours?

This can be considered where the equipment and integration provide reliable engine-hour readings; otherwise use an agreed alternative service basis.
