How to prepare a video retrieval request

Reduce delays by collecting the exact time, vehicle and camera details.

Locate the event

Record the vehicle registration, event date, exact time and timezone. Add a sensible period before and after the event to preserve context. Confirm which camera views are needed.

Check availability

Live streaming requires an online device. Historical footage may remain on device storage until requested, and remote retrieval depends on connectivity, compatible hardware and retained recordings. Footage can be overwritten according to device settings.

Review and preserve

Check that the retrieved file covers the intended period and cameras. Preserve an authorised copy through your incident process, retaining the original timestamps and access history where available.

If the clip is missing

Record the requested period, device status and any error. Ask support to investigate promptly. A blank result does not establish that no event occurred; the recording may be unavailable or outside retention.

PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

Your action checklist

  • Exact event time and timezone
  • Required channels
  • Context before and after
  • Approved evidence destination

Product availability depends on your devices, integrations, permissions and enabled modules. Confirm your organisation’s configuration before implementation.
