Days 1–15: establish trust
Explain the programme to drivers and managers. Clarify which events are reviewed, how decisions can be challenged and how positive driving is recognised. Check driver assignments and train reviewers on consistent classification.
Days 16–30: establish a baseline
Collect comparable distance or driving-hour exposure. Audit a sample of events for accuracy and agree one or two priority behaviours. Do not set targets using raw counts alone when driver workloads differ.
Days 31–60: coach consistently
Hold short, evidence-led conversations. Ask the driver for context, agree a specific action and record the next review. Escalate repeated serious risk through your existing management process rather than relying only on automated notifications.
Days 61–90: review outcomes
Compare the chosen behaviour rates over similar work and check completion of agreed actions. Look for improvement that persists across weeks. Investigate whether changes in routes, mileage or camera coverage explain the result.
Make the programme repeatable
Assign an owner, review capacity and a monthly calibration meeting. Keep a sample of reviewed decisions for quality checks and maintain an accessible feedback route for drivers.
